  16. INSTRUCTIONS FOR ABOVE RECORDS:

  18. There MUST be 11 records as outlined below.  Any deviation
  19. from this will probably cause some strange results.  If
  20. you don't want to put information in, leave that record
  21. blank -- don't just skip it!
  22.  
  23. Lines 1 thru 3: Return address.  These will be picked up
  24.                 as the "From:" information if KDQwik is
  25.                 executed with a "To:" parameter (e.g.
  26.                 C> KDQ John Doe).  If there is no "To:"
  27.                 parameter (e.g. C> KDQ), they will be
  28.                 ignored.  You may use one, two or three
  29.                 lines.  Just use a blank for the others.

  31. Lines 4 thru 7: Window size definition. These records MUST
  32.                 be numeric with the following constraints:
  33.                 4:  0 - 69                             (x1)
  34.                 5:  1 - 21*                            (y1)
  35.                 6: 15 - 81  {at least 15 more than x1} (x2)
  36.                 7:  5 - 25* {at least  4 more than y1} (y2)
  37.  
  38.                 * [39 and 43 for EGA mode]
  39.                 * [46 and 50 for VGA mode]

  41.                 If any of these records do not follow the
  42.                 above constraints or any are left blank,
  43.                 KDQwik will initialize in the default mode
  44.                 (x1 - 8, y1 - 4, x2 - 71, y2 - 20).

  46. Line 8:         Margin and Tab template. Place T's where you
  47.                 want Tab stops, an R for the right margin
  48.                 and a P,if you wish,for printer left offset.
  49.                 Only the first R(or P) will be used.  If you
  50.                 don't put R/P somewhere, KDQwik will assume
  51.                 an R in the last possible field (contingent
  52.                 on initialized size definition) and a P in
  53.                 the first. Don't worry about this line
  54.                 being longer than your size ... KDQwik will
  55.                 truncate it for you.
  56.                 * The T's, R and P must be CAPITALIZED.*

  58. Line 9:         File mode. If you want to GET and SAVE files
  59.                 other than .KDQ files, put a no. 12 here.
  60.                 Otherwise all saves (F2) and gets (F3) will
  61.                 assume a .KDQ extension.
  62.                  [ If you are interested, the 12 stands for
  63.                    the number of positions that can be typed
  64.                    in for a filename. 8 is the default. ]

  66. Line 10:        Fonts.  If you would like to make font
  67.                 selections prior to printing, place an F as
  68.                 this record.  Otherwise, the printer will
  69.                 execute in whatever mode it was set prior
  70.                 to starting KDQwik.

  72. Line 11:        Printer Type.  You have two choices. The
  73.                 default is E for EPSON or EPSON compat-
  74.                 ible.  Use an I if you have an IBM type
  75.                 printer (specifically designed for the
  76.                 Proprinter, but others may work.). Any
  77.                 letter other than I will assume EPSON.

  80. Other Command Line Parameters:

  82. In addition to a "TO:" parameter, KDQwik can use three other
  83. parameters.
  84.  
  85.  Use a '~' (C> KDQ ~), to indicate that you want
  86. to use full screen mode regardless of what your define file
  87. says.

  89.  If you have an EGA monitor, the parameter '-43'
  90. (C> KDQ -43) can be used to take advantage of the EGA's 43
  91. line mode. If you have VGA a 50 can be substituted for the 43.
  92.  
  93.  You can specify a startup file by enclosing the file name in
  94. double quotes (e.g. "Myfile").  If that file exists in the
  95. current directory, it will be displayed ready for editing. If
  96. it does not, it will simply be considered the Current File.
  97. Either way, any changes will need to be saved in the normal
  98. manner.
